I will discuss a seveal computational techniques for speeding up
scientific computing. Topics I will present are (1) application
specific computing and (2) computation on multi-core processors.
The application specific computing technique like GRAPE and MD-GRAPE
is very succesful in particle simulations. However, they have required
long development effort typically two to three years at least.
One solution is to utilize FPGA chip instead of implementing ASIC.
We have taken this approach to implement a rather complex particle
simulation technique called SPH method. I briefly show our results
of SPH methond on a computing board with FPGA.
Another topic is how to utilize multi-core processors such GRAPE-DR
and GPU. I will present my recent result on a compiler for
multi-processors and high-precision operations on GRAPE-DR and GPU.
Also, I will breifly introduce my novel implementaion
of oct-tree method on GPU and application of my oct-tree
implementaion to SPH mehotd on GPU.
