直前のお知らせですみません。
昨日まで日本科学未来館で開催していました「デバイ 
スアート3.010」関連イベントとして、明日10月1日金曜 
日午後6時半より、早稲田大学戸山キャンパスにてシ 
ンポジウムを開催します。ぜひおいでください。

この展示は、ザグレブのメディアアートセンター「コ 
ンテイナー」の主催によるものです。
コンテイナーは2004年から「デバイスアート」の企画 
展示を行い、昨年11月の第3回は、クロアチア、スロ 
ヴェニアの作品に加えて日本のデバイスアート・プロ 
ジェクトを招いての展示、パフォーマンス、ラウンド 
テーブルとなりました。今回は逆に、クロアチア、ス 
ロヴェニアのキュレーター3人がプレゼンテーション 
を行い、昨年ザグレブを訪問した日本側デバイスアー 
トチーム（明和電機・土佐信道、筑波大学・岩田洋 
夫、早稲田大学・草原真知子）とディスカッションを 
展開します。

クロアチア、スロヴェニアのメディアアートは、強い 
メッセージ性で知られています。まったく同じ時期に 
同じタイトルで独立に活動を始めた東欧と日本のメ 
ディアアートのグループが、どのような共通点と違い 
を見出したか、意義深い討論になることを期待してい 
ます。

概要：
　現代の中国は、世界中１億人近くの華僑、華人の思想をも植民地化するように、文化的国威を宣揚している。それはアートの領域でさえも。しかし「中国当代美術」と呼ばれる概念はグローバリズムとライフスタイルの多様化により、その単一属性が解体されることが避けられない。
　この企画は最長１４年の日本在住経験を持つ中国系アーティスト６名をとりあげている。「日常」という課題を与えられた彼らがいかにそれをとらえて表現に落とし込むのか。このテーマを通じて在外華人に遍在するファクターを迫ってみたい。
　アイデンティティの回帰を求めすぎるゆえの漂流感とつりあわないほどの力強さを感じさせてくれる彼ら。矛盾かもしれないが、あえて単一の属性にするならば、私はこれを「フォーレン・チャイニーズ・アート」と呼びたい。

アーティストの画期的なコラボレーションによる10年単位の環境観測。
放射線データに着目し、人間存在と環境への新たな眼差しを提示する。

このたび、山口情報芸術センター［YCAM］では、アートからの長周期的な視点に基づき、地球環境と情報環境を観測する展覧会「polarm［ポーラーエム］」を開催いたします。

本展は、世界的に活動を続けるカールステン・ニコライとマルコ・ペリハンの２人のアーティストがコラボレーションをおこない、最新の情報技術をベースにした新たな環境観測の方法と、それによってもたらされる人間存在と環境への新たな眼差しを、新作インスタレーション（YCAM委嘱作品）として展示するものです。

本展の契機となった2000年の「polar［ポーラー］」は、「アルス・エレクトロニカ」にて、ゴールデン・ニカ（大賞）を受賞など、国際的にも高く評価され、その構想を受け継ぐ新たな展示が長らく待望されてきました。それから10年を経て実現する本展では、情報化がより一層進んだ今日の社会を探索する方法として「放射線データ」に着目し、体験者を含むあらゆる存在と放射線との関係を、映像や音響によって精緻に表現するこれまでにない発想のインスタレーションを発表します。

Decennial environmental observations in art focusing on a global informational network's polar areas

This exhibition presents the outcome of a collaboration between Carsten Nicolai and Marko Peljhan, two artists who continue to operate on the international stage, showcasing new m ethods of environmental observation based on the latest information technology, and at once introducing resulting new perspectives on human existence and the environment in the form of a newly conceived installation (commissioned by YCAM).

The piece “polar” (2000) that inspired this exhibition in the first place was an internationally acclaimed project, the much-expected sequel to which, adopting the general concept, now finally materializes after a hiatus of ten years. With a focus on ”radiation data” as a way of exploring the new level that computerization has reached in society today, this never previously experienced installation is an elaborate audio-visual reflection on the various forms and occasions of exposure to radioactive rays, including the visitor’s experience of the installation itself.

A symposium exploring the possibilities and difficulties of the diversity of life through critical investigations in art, ecology and action.

The ecology of biodiversity is based upon an uncertain definition, incomplete statistics and the need to act in a world without balance. While multiple flora and fauna databases have being established and are being coordinated, and as natural biodiversity diminishes and more technological life forms come into being; there is an urgent need to engage even more proactively with complex ecosystems and human responses. ■第１回メディア芸術オープントーク
「『メディア芸術』ってよくわからないぞ」

昨年来、議論を呼んできた文化庁主導の「メディア芸術総合センター」
について、今、真剣に考えるとどのようなことになるのでしょうか？
もちろん建物についての議論ではなく、この分野について国が関与
するならばいったい何をするべきなのか、大体この「メディア芸術」と
はいったいどのような分野なのか、そもそもこれは「芸術」といってい
いのか、といった「そもそも論」を皆さんと話してみたいと思います。

■メディア芸術オープントークとは

近年、現代の日本文化を代表する分野として「メディア芸術」に大き
な期待が寄せられています。「メディア芸術」は、「デジタル表現や
先端テクノロジーを用いたメディアアートだけでなく、エンターテイ
ンメント性のあるマンガ、アニメ、ゲームなども含む領域」とされて
いま すが、これら既存の文化ジャンルにとらわれることなく、時代
に呼応 した新たな文化として議論すべき時機がきたのではないでしょ
うか。 実際、テクノロジーの発展とともに表現の可能性も拡大し、
既存の 文化ジャンルの境界は極めて曖昧になっているともいえます。

新しくシリーズとして始まる「メディア芸術オープントーク」は、
メディア アート、美学、美術史、社会学などの分野で鋭い発言を続け
る専門 家４名をコア・フェローとして迎え、この「メディア芸術」と
いう新たな 領域を多角的に読み解くオープン・プラットフォームです。
議論の場は、東京をはじめ国内各地。関連する分野から多彩なゲスト
をお招きして、みなさんとともに「メディア芸術」について考えてい
きたいと思います。
各地の「メディア芸術オープントーク」の場でお目にかかれるのを楽
しみにしています。

IAMAS産業文化研究センターから「IAMAS AIR展」のご案内です。

IAMASのアーティスト・イ ン・レジデンス制度は、開校以来 IAMAS が実施している活動のひとつで、国内外の優秀なメディアクリエイターを招へいし、その制作活動を支援するものです。

2008年度のレジデンス制度をもちまして、本学のレジデンス制度は休止となりましたが、
今年度、文化庁の委託事業として3組のクリエイターを招へいいたしました。

つきまして、滞在制作の成果発表として、11月26日（金）〜28日（日）までIAMASギャラリーにて「IAMAS AIR 2010」展を開催いたします。
本展ではマーティン・リッチズ、トロイ・イノセ ント+インデ・ホワン、アニー・ワン+ユンス・カンの 3 組の作品を紹介します。

マーティン・リッチズの新作「Singing Machine」を共同制作者の松本祐一、高橋裕の作曲によるコラボレーション作品として初公演を行います。 また、作家による作品の解説とデモを行います。

The Historical-Cultural Heritage in the Contemporary World

Terms and Conditions

Organizers: 
Forum of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan foundation
MEROS Association of Antiquarians of Uzbekistan
Youth Creativity Palace in Tashkent

Date: 15 February - 15 March 2011 

Participation criterion: art students, photographers, designers, artists. 
Voting age: from 18 to 35. 

Mission of the photo - exhibition:
To draw attention of a young population of different countries to the urgent problems of contemporary world: preservation of the historic - cultural heritage. Today, historical- cultural heritage becomes a basic definition of national identity, a cultural gene pool of every nation. 

As a broad concept retracting the architectural monuments, manuscripts, masterpiec es of fine and decorative art, works of immaterial culture, historical - cultural heritage becomes not only a historical past but stratum of culture, traditions, spirituality that functioning in the contemporary world. 

What do the young population know about their heritage? How do they perceive it? Can they preserve it for coming generations? And what do they do for its benefit? In what condition the historical - cultural heritage of our countries? How does new generation see its historical - cultural heritage? What is its role in the formation of up-to-date public awareness? Authors of the particular project propose to young artist to express their view upon these issues. 

Aims of the photo-exhibition: 
To draw attention of young artists to the topical problems of heritage preservation in the contemporary world.
To broader the world outlook of young artists from different countries towards heritage of national, regional and universal importance.
To consolidate the creative youth of different courtiers, leading to creative researches in the field of photo art. 
To Support and stimulate the young art of diverse countries.
To draw public attention to the contemporary issues of the historical - cultural heritage. 
To introduce the photo - art of young artists to the international public. 


Contest nominations: 
1. Heritage masterpieces and contemporary town landscape. 
2. Heritage and natural environment: searches of synthesis.
3. Heritage and spiritual world of today people. 
4. Up-to-date destroyed heritage.
5. Up-to-date heritage preservation issues. 
6. Personality role of in the heritage preservation issues. 

Winners of photo exhibition-competition will be invited to Tashkent (the organizers pay for economy class flights, accommodation, travel in Tashkent) and will be awarded prizes and diplomas.

1. Application Form: 

1. Name and Surname. 
2. Coun try, city of residence. 
3. Date of birth. 
4. Copy of Passport 
5. Art education (or place of study at the present). 
6. Place of work (if you are working). 
7. Name of a series of papers submitted for the photo contest. 
8. Indicated the nomination, in which the work involved. 




Competition criterion:
1. Singularity of vision and stylistic solution

2. Photo shoots are accepted in one of two formats: 

1) Printed version (black or colour photo), 30х40 or 30х45 сm, unframed. 
2) Electron version (black or colour photo), both СD or DVD formats are acceptable. 

3. Each country is entitled to 50 photo shoots. 

4. Photo shoots are to be sent until the stated date of submission to the following address:

5. Please note that the works sent online during the primary submission should be in the format and size of no more then: 72 DPJ and 1200 pixels; reduction of 7-8 JPG; RGB for color shoots and Grayscale for black and white shoots. The works that will be nominated are expected to be sent for the secondary submission in higher quality: 300 DPJ, 4500 pixels, JPG 12 reduction, RGB for color shoots and Grayscale for black and white. 

6. Participants are entitled to send either single work or a series (up to 6 photos), in the accordance to the theme of the exhibition and united by the single meaning contest. The photo shoots should be created within the last five years. A series of photo shoots will be accepted as a single work. 

7. Submitted works should be signed and selected in the right order (if series). 

8 Organizing committee has the right to select works for the particular exhibition. 



Primary submission date: 20 December 2010.

Secon dary submission: 20 January 2011.
